ABOUT COPENHAGENPADEL.DK

Copenhagenpadel.dk gathers all information about padel tournaments and events arranged by Grøndal MultiCenter (GMC), which is one of Northern Europes largest leisure centers located in Copenhagen.

GMC has four courts - two indoors and two outdoors. The two outdoor courts are located at Genforeningspladsen (just beside the center).

Padel tennis is a growing sport in Denmark. There are currently no fomalized clubs, and for that reason no organized tournaments. We are trying, in cooperation with practitioners and sponsors, to change this by organizing Copenhagen Open and other tournaments and events each year.

Padel is a fun combination of mainly tennis and squash, which is typically played by teams of two against two (doubles) in a court about half the size of a standard tennis court. The scoring system is the same as tennis, but has its own rules.

In contrast to tennis, the ball almost never leaves the field as players are surrounded by a cage-like structure with glass walls on the baseline side. The ball is allowed to touch the surrounding walls.

Padel is a sport for everyone, old and young. It is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is set to become the sport of the 3rd millenium.

In Europe the sport has begun its conquest, not surprisingly, through Spain, where it was introduced by the many immigrants from Latin America.

What makes padel so popular? First of all it is fast, funny, social, competitive and easy to learn. The sport is also less physically challenging than tennis or squash.
